Bridgette's Blog - Artists & Fleas Venice
On Saturday May 7th I participated in my second art market. Artists and Fleas, an “artist, designer and vintage market” organized the event. The market was located extremely close to my house and the beach in Venice at 1010 Abbot Kinney Blvd. I woke up early, collected flowers for my display, grabbed coffee and a bite to eat at Flake and prepared my booth for the 10:00 AM opening. The morning started out a bit cold and looked as though it was going to rain. I was hesitant to place my artwork outside. When the sun peeked through around noon, more people showed up and wandered about the 60+ vender’s booths. Participating in Artists and Fleas allowed me to publicly display my artwork and try out some new display techniques. I invested in a pop up tent that I am also hoping to use at the beach or on camping trips this summer. In addition to my work, I put out a few of my mom’s stained glass heart-shaped pieces. These items look great hung in front of a window or on a wall for an added pop of color. I was delighted when a few of my co-workers from BCBG stopped by. A couple of them even bought paintings!
